Join Us Friday for the Baerathlon!
On April 27th at 10 a.m., the Baer children get to channel their inner athlete as they complete the Baerathlon: a fun, adapted mini-triathlon. You can join us, and make the day special for our Baers!
What is the Baerathlon?
The Baerathlon is a fun, adapted “mini-triathlon.” Volunteers partner with a student athlete to walk/run a lap around the school, assist a Baer-athlete to bike (in adaptive equipment) a lap around the school and then complete one dip in a baby pool/ sprinkler. Each volunteer will act as a “wingman” for a student athlete.
What do I do at the Baerathlon?
Volunteers help Baers enjoy a day they will always remember! No prior experience is needed! Staff and teachers will assist as needed and provide additional support and guidance. Even non-wingmen spots are available, and student service hours can be earned.
Can I donate instead of, or in addition to, attending?
Always! By sponsoring a classroom in the Baerathlon, you can help a Baer cross the finish line and help the Baer School get the furniture we need to help Baers moving and achieving every day. Our school has been serving disabled and medically fragile children for over 75 years. Some of our classroom furniture was nearly as old as the building. This year, the school got rid of tables and chairs that were either broken or ancient, or both!
When should I arrive?
The event begins at 10 a.m., but please also allow extra time for parking and signing in at our front desk. We ask that you bring a drivers license in to the building to be scanned for our visitor badge system. If you volunteered within the last year or two, you should still be in the system and simply can give your last name for our office staff to pull up your name badge. You can stay an hour, two, or more!
What should I wear?
Please dress comfortably! If you have a FitBit, you’ll log a lot of steps in our school! Fingers crossed that the weather will be nice, but the event will be held rain or shine.
How do I get to the school/Where should I park?
We will have room in our parking lot, but overflow parking is available on bordering side streets.
